Anyone may donate commemorative objects related to Yangon University to be able to showcase them at the Yangon University Museum for revealing history of the university in successive eras, said Yangon University
Rector Dr Po Kaung.
The museum of the university will be commissioned by the year 2020 when the university will be 100 years old. The museum will be located on No 33 of Chancellor Road in Yangon University.
“It aims to open the museum to mark the centennial celebration of the university. We are collecting historical sequences of the university, documents and commemorative moves to be displayed at the museum,” said
The museum will have five booths. The irst booth will showcase the historical objects before 1920, the second booth to display that of the silver jubilee period from 1921 to 1945, the third one from 1946 to 1970, and
the fourth one from 1971 to 1995 and the ifth and last one from 1996 to 2020.
Although commemorative booths were opened at the ceremony to mark the golden and diamond jubilee celebrations of the university, the museum of Yangon University will be established as permanent
facilities for the irst time so as to showcase the objects revealing the situations of successive eras related to the
Yangon University was established in December 1920. The university will mark the centennial celebration the whole December 2020. So also, the university will commemorate the moves of pre-centennial occasion the whole 2020, said the rector.
